About Cataplana
The cataplana is both a kitchen utensil and a cooking method originating from the Algarve, with Moorish influence. Made of copper, with a clam shape that closes hermetically, it allows slow steam cooking, concentrating aromas and flavours. Seafood cataplana is one of the Algarve's most emblematic dishes. At A Pharmácia da Avó, the cataplana represents the richness of Portuguese regional culinary tradition.
